Lindsay's RAKlife Trip Helping the Less Fortunate
Dear Family and Friends,
Please help support my volunteer trip to Vietnam with my favorite non-profit organization, RAKlife. This September 2017, I will be embarking on my first volunteer trip abroad! I am so excited to take part in an incredible organization that positively impacts the lives of others around the world, in both big and small ways.
This non-profit organization found me at the perfect time! And when I say found me, I’m not kidding. Knowledge of RAKlife (Random Acts of Kindness LIFE) was literally delivered into my email box by my best friend! I had felt drawn to volunteer in Vietnam for the past year or so, but hadn’t found an organization that felt quite right. I would scour the internet from time to time, but the non-profits I found felt too large, overwhelming, and I didn’t feel the personal connection I was hoping for. As it turns out, my best friend’s wedding photographer volunteers directly with RAKlife and BOOM, here I am, about to embark on a journey that I feel will change the trajectory of my life and make an incredible impact in the lives of others.
This fall, I will be amongst the beautiful rice fields and people of Mai Chau, Vietnam. From the photographs I’ve seen, this luscious green valley surrounded by mountains looks like a dream! The people of Mai Chau might not have a lot financially, but from what I hear they have incredibly big hearts! RAKlife visits this village twice a year to help improve the lives of these wonderfully warm people. With RAKlife, I get to help the people of Mai Chau in both big and small ways, which really drew my heart to the organization.
For our big project, I get the honor to make a dramatic difference in the lives of one family by building them a bathroom and clean water basin. Now, I’m sure you might be asking yourself, “What on earth does Lindsay know about bathroom construction?” Well your thinking is correct; beyond buying toilet levers at ACE Hardware here at home in California, I have zero experience with water basins and bathroom construction. Thankfully, our local team in Vietnam does! And luckily, they are really great at directing and leading these projects! In regards to helping people in small ways, our afternoon itineraries are free and will be spent performing Random Acts of Kindness for people we encounter in our daily travels!
As much as I’ve travelled throughout my 32 years on this planet, I’ve never embarked on a journey quite like this. I’ve never witnessed and touched immense poverty first-hand. I expect to experience many emotional, heart warming and life-altering moments on this trip that will not only positively impact my own personal growth but change the lives of others. Volunteering abroad and helping the less fortunate has always been a dream of mine. With your help, I’m so excited that this once dream will soon be reality.
Every little bit helps and I thank you wholeheartedly in advance for your donation to this cause and to my dream!
With joy, love, & light,
“The day will come when after harnessing the winds, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of LOVE. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.” –Teilhard de Chardin
RAKlife is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so ALL donations are tax deductible and 100% of ALL donations that I receive will go directly toward my volunteer experience (they don't pay for overhead or salaries because they do this out of love!)
