RAKlife Story

The idea for RAKlife came in early 2014. Our founder, Matthew Foster, was leading a life similar to the George Clooney character from “Up in the Air.” Over the years he continued to feel a large void in his life and never achieved a feeling of true happiness. Sitting in his hotel room one day, Matt made a short list of things that brought joy- the two at the top were traveling and spreading happiness to others. He wondered, “How can I mold these two to create a sustainable community of like-minded people?” RAKlife was born.

Because of this simple, yet powerful idea and convinced it is a true differentiation in the charity world, we obtained our official IRS 501(c)3 non-profit designation in the Summer of 2014.

Most charities attempt to solve very large issues. There are so many of these large issues in the world to tackle; RAKlife refuses to be another charity with large overhead costs, achieving significant donations with little tangible impact. We truly believe in the goodness of mankind- that the vast majority of people want to help those less fortunate, yet don’t have an easy channel or receive awareness of how to do so. RAKlife gives the everyday person a way to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.  Nobody in RAKlife makes a salary or 'gets paid'.  We do this because we love to and believe in the impact we have on the individuals and communities we serve. 100% of donations will go towards performing random acts of kindness around the globe – something I know very few if any non-profits can say.

Call it random acts of kindness, call it paying it forward, there are many way people describe it, but the RAKlife message is that we are all in this together. One small act of helpfulness can truly change somebody’s life.  We are creating a viral community of RAKer’s that live and breathe this way of life. The RAKlife name is a simple message that we intend not only to perform random acts of kindness at certain times, but rather create a daily path of living a life dedicated to taking time or giving to those who need it more than us.
